2009 - Promise Kept

A postgame press conference no Gator fan thought they would ever see ... and a Promise that they will never forget!

On September 27th, 2008 the Ole Miss Rebels came into The Swamp and shocked not only Gator faithful but the college football world.  The Florida Gators were lead by Superman, Tim Tebow, Ole Miss had lost the week before to Vanderbilt, everything was shaping up to be yet another Gator blowout.

The Gators were on their way to victory leading the Rebels 30-17.  And then, what seemed to come out of nowhere, Gators fan’s world was rocked.  Ole Miss scored two unanswered touchdowns, blocked a Florida extra point, and left having defeated the mighty ones, 31-30.  Not only were the Gators beaten , but their quest for a perfect season and a chance to play for the national title were thought to have been wiped away.

Superman had let GatorNation down.  He allowed the mighty Gators to lose!

Then in one of the most memorable speeches in all of sports, Tim Tebow took center stage and put not only the loss but the rest of the season on his back.  In the coming 30 seconds, he delivered a speak that will certainly go down in college football folklore.  A heartfelt  promise that he would never let this happen again.

"I Promise you ... you will never see any player in the entire country play as hard as I will play the rest of this season, and you will never see someone push the rest of the team as hard as I will push everybody the rest of this season ... GOD BLESS."

well, I guess you can say only one thing ... PROMISE KEPT.
